As the postures of EU Parliament political groups started to take shape, GUE/NGL MEPs decided to make public their stance about the proposals after an intense day of discussions.
In an interview with DigiTallinn, one member of this political group made it clear that they will strongly oppose some amendments of the Draft submitted by the FAC council.
Speaking about the draft, the GUE/NGL MEP said that other political parties of the EU parliament are aware that they support a peaceful European Union.
“Regarding the draft of the FAC we have seen that currently it explores the possibility of improving the joint declaration between EU and NATO. In connection to this, we will propose some amendments, because as a party we oppose the militarization of EU. However we are aware that in democracy, compromise is very important”.
Concretely, the MEP said that the GUE/NGL is concerned about certain Articles of the FAC draft, including Articles 3, 5 and 11.
As for the EPSCO proposal, he made it clear that this party has nothing against it, and that apart from discussing some elements, they will vote the current form of it.
